Things are tough for some people right now, and they may be getting even tougher.

But that’s EXACTLY why, today, more than ever, you need something to fall back on in the event that you are laid off, downsized, outsourced, or whatever they call it. The result is the same, you no longer have a pay check and in this economy a slim chance of finding another job to replace the one you just lost. If this has already happened to you, then you know what it is like to have to rely on unemployment and savings. We all know that with prices at the levels they are today, it does not take long to deplete any savings that you have managed to build up. You need an alternative, to help you weather the rough times when they are forced upon you.

THAT IS WHY I RECOMMEND STARTING A HOME BASED BUSINESS OF SOME KIND.

Hopefully you can get it started and making a profit before you need it to survive. If you do get it started in time it can add to your savings for the rough times if they come, or allow you to indulge in a few luxury items that you have been wishing you could afford.

As I have said before there are several alternatives for a home based business. Some you can get started for free or next to nothing cost wise. Others will require a cash investment. The ones that do require an investment to get started do not necessarily require a lot of up front money. I do realize that what is a small investment to one person, may be a large, almost impossible, sum to someone else. Therefore, you may need someone to lay out the options for you in order to select the best route for you to follow.

That is what I will be glad to help you with. The nice thing is that I do not charge anything for helping you to find out which is the best option for you. You may even decide that you are not suited for a home business of any type, especially at this point in your life. If that is the case I will try to help you decide that for yourself.

Yes I do have a business venture that I believe is one of the best opportunities that you can find today, but I am not trying to hook everyone into a business venture with me. I want the people that do decide to start a business to be successful in whatever they decide to do, whether it is with me or not. This may sound a bit strange, but if I get a lot of people to join me in my business and they do not succeed, then I get a reputation as some one who is just out for a fast buck. In the long run that will do more to defeat me in my business efforts than it will help. Also, if you are not successful and making money in any business that I recommend, I do not make any money, and isn’t making money the reason that anyone starts a business.

I know a lot of people think that I am crazy or even downright stupid for being involved in the network marketing industry. For a long time I also thought that network marketing or multi level marketing (MLM) was something to avoid like it was a deadly disease. You see many years ago I was approached by some people who tried to get me involved in one of the original pyramid schemes. From that moment on, I thought all MLM companies were just like that. But like Robert Kiyosaki, I finally started looking at network marketing with an open mind. When I did this I realized that it was not only a legitimate business model, but one that would allow a person to get into business for a price that they could afford. Not only was the investment to get started something that most people could afford, but in the right company you would receive training and guidance to help you build a profitable business. Even if you have no business background you will receive the training you need to build a business that will reward you in relation to the time and effort you are willing and/or able to invest in the business.

Why are these people willing to help you build your business? They not only enjoy helping people become financially successful, but the more successful the people they help become, the more money they make. Making more money by helping the people in your team or down line make more money is, in itself, a very good reason to help them become as successful as they possibly can be. I will admit that some of the individuals involved in the network marketing industry are mostly interested in the money that they can make. However, the ones that are really successful are the ones that are, first and foremost, interested in helping people that are trying to create a better life for themselves and their families.

What greater satisfaction could there be than helping someone who wants and needs to build a better future for themselves, while at the same time creating a better life for yourself? When you can make money by helping other people make money, it is one of the best win - win situations that I can think of.

Network marketing is a great business for people that enjoy helping people. As a matter of fact the noted author Robert Kiyosaki wrote a book entitled “The Business School, For People Who Like Helping People“, endorsing the network marketing industry. In this book he gives a detailed explanation of why he recommends network marketing. So if this description fits you, network marketing just might be a business model that you would enjoy working in.

If you are thinking about starting a home based business, I would strongly advise you to look into this type of business. As I mentioned before it has a relatively low start up cost, and people that want you succeed. So you should look for a company and an up line that is not only willing but able to teach you how to help your down line succeed.

On of the most important ingredients necessary to build a successful and profitable home based business is the correct attitude. If you have the “I can do it” attitude you can do anything you really want to do in life. They are people who are more than willing to point out the many ways that it is possible to fail at any task that you might under take, from learning how to ride a bicycle to making a million dollars. They can do this especially if they have never had the pleasure of succeeding at something that would have really made them happy and fulfilled in their life. As you know, there are more ways to be unsuccessful than there are to be successful, but you must keep concentrating on the ways to succeed in any endeavor that you undertake.

One of the best ways to make sure you accomplish what you desire is to learn to have a positive mental attitude. Not just a cheerful outlook, that makes you think that maybe this is possible, and “I think I will be able to make it happen”. You must have an attitude that says you know that whatever you want to do is not only possible, but you are positive that you are going to make it happen the way that you want it to happen. In fact, you are so positive that things are going to turn out the way you want them to - in your mind you cannot see any other alternative and you are just waiting for reality to catch up to your belief.

Of course you must have more than the right mental attitude and outlook in order to build a successful home business, or any business for that matter. You must have a good product that is in demand or one that it is fairly easy to create a demand for. Of course a product that the general public is already using and needs or wants is best, because then you do not have to expend the time, energy and money to create a market for it. Another thing that is essential, if you are planning on joining a network marketing company. You must find a good company that has leaders that are willing to spend time helping you in learning the business and how to build a down line of people that are willing to work with you to build a great business. With all of these factors at work you cannot help but succeed.

I know that you have heard this expression. “Do you have a plan B?” If you have not heard anyone say this, you have not talked to many people that have started a home based business to supplement or replace their primary source of income. Of course the home based business is their plan B. The hope is it will generate enough income, to allow them to afford some of the extras that they would like to have to make their life more pleasant and comfortable. Also, some or all of the people who get involved in a home based business hope that one day it will replace the income they receive from their primary job. This of course would allow them to quit that job, and work at home full time. Some people use the phrase “I fired my boss”.

Whether you are looking for a full or part time home business I might be able to help you find a business that would interest you. Everyone is not suited for all of the home business options that are available. As a matter of fact, a home based business would not work at all for some people. To make a home business work, you absolutely have to have the desire to make it succeed. However, desire is not enough. You also need the discipline to put the work into the business to make it succeed.

Please do not fall for the pitch that some people use to recruit a down line in a network marketing business. (”Anyone can do this, it is not sales, it is just sharing information with your friends and family.” “If you show them this business they will jump at he chance to join you and make you and them rich beyond your wildest dreams.”) Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Well in most cases something that sounds too good to be true, probably is. Especially if the pitch is that it does not require any work.

To make any business a success you have to put some work into it. If you put no work into the business you will probably get out of the business what you put into it - NOTHING. So it only stands to reason, the amount of work and effort you put into anything determines the amount of return you receive.

Therefore, if you are not ready to work at least a little to make a home business grow and succeed, do not even start one. If you do start a business of any kind and are not willing to put some work into it, then you will undoubtedly fail, and wind up with nothing but a huge amount of debt for your effort. What happens then? You and everyone you talk to about your experience will be convinced that the whole concept is flawed and only a few lucky people ever make any money. This is the reason so many people have a negative attitude toward home based businesses.

But, if you are willing to work and learn something about marketing and sales, then you stand a chance to make the amount of money equal to the effort you put into building the business. You will find ads for online marketing systems that say you can just buy that system set it up, sit back, and wait for the prospects to come to you, or watch the money come rolling in. They claim that in no time at all you will have more people begging to join your business or buy your products than you can handle. Boy, do I wish it worked that way. If it did work like that we could all get rich in no time at all. You can get leads and prospects by marketing on the Internet, but you have to invest some time and effort into the marketing.

The more work that you put into the marketing, the more results you will get. The more prospects you will get for your network marketing business, and the more affiliate products you will sell. The sale of affiliate products is not the main focus of your marketing efforts. However, those sales help defray any cost you generate in the marketing process. If you are willing to do some work and learn a few things about the internet, you can market your product or business on the internet with very little expense.

I have been researching as many ways as I can find to generate traffic and build a mailing list, while incurring as little expense as possible. I have found some very inexpensive ways to market your business. Some of my favorites ways have a price tag that I really like. I figure you cannot beat a price tag of $0.00. As I have mentioned before I like free.

Have you ever wished you could have had a chance to be involved in the gold rushes in North Georgia, California, or Alaska? If you had been able to you might have been rich beyond your wildest dreams. Well, you and I both missed those by being born too late.

Guess what, I have a better gold rush that is happening right now, and you can take part in this gold rush right in your own home. You don’t have to get hot, dirty, and tired or cold, wet, and miserable. You can participate in this gold rush in the comfort of your own air conditioned home or office.

What is this gold rush you might ask? At least I hope that is what you are asking at this moment. If you are not asking that question then you are not interested in joining this gold rush and getting rich, or at least making a good part time income.

As you may know not everyone who joined the gold rushes of past ages got rich. Some made nothing, some made a little money, others made a comfortable living, and others made great fortunes.

That is the same thing that is happening in the gold rush that is taking place today. The only difference is that in today’s gold rush you have more control over the outcome.

There are some people that advertise on the internet, that make it sound like it is so easy to make a fortune over night. Just like in the gold rushes in the 1800’s and early 1900’s. People were told all you have to do is walk down to the river and pick up gold nuggets the size of eggs or larger. There are always people telling you that there is an easy no work way to get rich. I wish that were true.

So what do you have to do to get a good network marketing business.

Sorry, I got distracted; my mind does that quite frequently. So what is this modern day gold rush?

It is a home business run on the internet. It can be one of many business models. The most common are affiliate marketing, and network marketing. I think that both are great. However, I think that network marketing is the best one for building a large business, with a great residual income. Affiliate marketing can be used to pay expenses while you are building your down line in your network marketing company.

There are some people that just do affiliate marketing, and that is fine. You have to find the business model that is right for you.

Why do so many people who start network businesses fail in the first few months? A lot of people who start in network marketing get discouraged and quit after a couple of months and most people do not last a year. They get all fired up and excited about the opportunity and think that everyone they know or talk to will feel the same way, once they have an opportunity to tell them about it.

Then reality sets in when they start telling people about this wonderful business that they have found. Some might be slightly interested in starting a business of their own, but a great majority of people today have no desire to start and run their own business. Some of the ones that are interested in starting a business have heard all the negative things about network marketing. The first thing a lot of them say is “yes I know all about network marketing sometimes called Multi Level Marketing or MLM. It is just a pyramid scheme and no one but the top people ever make any money”.

After being turned down by most of the people that they talk to about the business, they get discouraged and decide to give up on trying to build a business. Then they become the next person to spread the word that network marketing is just a scam.

This is why I am setting up this blog and my web site to educate people about network marketing and how it really works. I am in the process, with the help of some people on my team, of writing an eBook that will explain network marketing in detail. This book will also explain why network marketing is not only a legal business model, but probably the best model for someone to get started for a small investment and build a business that suits their needs and comfort level. The business could gross anywhere from $50.00 a month to $50,000.00 a month. It is all up to the individual and how much effort and time that they wish to invest, and what it takes to make them a success in their own mind.

As much as I hate to say it, network marketing is not for everyone. Just like any business or occupation is not suited for everyone in the world. If that were the case we would be in bad shape, because everyone would want to be doing the sane thing and all other fields would be vacant. This is the big reason there is such a high failure rate. People who really do not want to do what is necessary to build a business get involved in a business and soon decide that they really are not interested and quit without ever making any money.

I know that most of the information in this post are things that a lot of you already know. But, some people out there are not as up to speed on some things as others. I want to help bring some of those that are not as knowledgeable as you are up to speed.

Affiliate marketing is simply getting people to go to a business to buy merchandise, take advantage of a service, or become a dues paying member. When this happens the business pays the person that referred the customer a commission. This is not a new concept brought on by the Internet, the Internet just made it more popular and profitable.

In the old days, when I was young, people that engaged in affiliate marketing had to send proof or have the customer tell the employees of the business that they had sent them in too purchase something. Now all you have to do is sign up with the business as an affiliate, and they assign you an affiliate code that is included in the link from your web site, and a program keeps track of all of the sales that you referred to the company. Then at the end of the pay period if you have the minimum amount to qualify for a commission check the company mails you a check. It is one of the simplest ways to make money that is available.

To make money with this method, you should have a web site that you can get people to visit and click on the links you have to your affiliate sites. The other way is to build a large mailing list to send emails to the people on your list and suggest products and services for them to purchase. However, you have to be careful about sending emails to refer people to an affiliate company. If you do not have permission to send the person an email, then it is considered spam. SPAM is not legal or a good business practice. Most companies will terminate your affiliate privileges if you are reported for sending spam.
